Apple Original TV

Apple might be the next contender on the online streaming market to produce their own TV shows. While Apple have been in the streaming market for quite some time due to the iTunes Store, they haven’t yet taken the step to produce their own original TV content, like Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. That might not be that far off, though, according to a new report by Variety.
According to the report, “sources indicate the Cupertino, Calif. colossus has held preliminary conversations in recent weeks with executives in Hollywood to suss out their interest in spearheading efforts to produce entertainment content. The unit putting out the feelers reports into Eddy Cue, who is Apple’s point man on all content-related matters, from its negotiations with programmers for Apple TV to its recent faceoff with Taylor Swift.”
As of late, Apple has started hiring more independent film content experts in order to excel the offerings by iTunes Movies, including exclusive films and broader content as well as films made available before or during their runs in theatre. Having more purely original content might very well be the next step.
