Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not be screening early for any guilds or critics groups, according to The Wrap. Disney and Lucasfilm have agreed to keep a lid completely, arguing that this is more important than receiving any rewards ahead of the December 14 release of the blockbuster.
Not showing the film ahead of time will result in not being able to make the nominees list for the National Board of Review, the New York Film Critics Circle, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, or the Screen Actors Guild. While the facts are still somewhat unclear, it also seems that the film will not be shown to critics ahead of the release, and if critics are allowed to see it it will only be a few nights ahead of the release. If that is the case, we can’t expect any reviews or reactions before the Los Angeles world premiere on Monday, December 14.
