McCann Mexico has created a thought provoking ad for Chevrolet about the dangers of texting and driving. While there have been many ads focusing on the need to stop texting while driving, this one focuses on the ones the driver is texting with, urging the viewer to not text drivers. The ad shows a man on a toilet, floating across quiet roads while he texts, until he meets the man he is texting, whose car just barely misses him.

The new design and animation studio Visual Assembly has started out nicely with a beautiful launch video. The video displays their CG talents while also acting as a striking ad for the new studio, founded in London by Joseph Winston and Douglas Bowden. The sound design was created by Echoic Audio with an audio track by Aphex Twin.
“The concept was to create a piece that resonated with the name of the studio and represented the building or foundation of something new.”

Google and Washington University have gone together creating unique timelapses, gathering millions of images from the Internet. In the process, referred to as “timelapse mining”, they take online photos of famous and well photographed scenery, unifying them into a single timelapse showing years of history in mere seconds. By stabilising the end result, what is actually millions of photographs look like an ongoing video project.
ANTIVJ artist Xavier Chassaing has created a beautiful experimental film using changing lights which evokes an almost hypnotic trance. The video is fully CG and is co-produced by Mathematic, and it expands on a physical installation originally set in the ethnobotanical garden in Oaxaca, Mexico.
“Meditation and self-hypnosis are central to my work”, Xavier Chassaing said. “When working through an idea, it is like trying to sleep when you have a fever: the same dream or nightmare repeats again and again, but eventually a lot comes from that; our dreams encompass visions and concepts.”
